Chi Rho Mission Trip Day 2

We are on the second full day of our Chi Rho Mission Trip with F.A.S.T. in the Appalachian Mountains in Deer Lodge TN.  Below you can find pictures and stories from our second day as written by Team Epic: Max Ashby, CeCe Marks, Lauren Crawford, and Tyler Dickinson

Today, we set out to finish the project we began yesterday.  Our group took the drive back to Ms. Wanda’s house to complete the staining of the deck.   We were very glad to go back today so we could get to know Ms. Wanda better and meet her grandson.  We finished our project before lunch, and after eating we went to stain yet another ramp for Ms. Alice.  There were many God sightings throughout the day.   We saw God in the willingness of the group to do a second project in the same day.  After we finished our second project, we took a much anticipated trip to the Morgan Scott Project thrift store.  Ms. Ella, the director of the Morgan Scott Project, invited us to her homestead.  She gave us a tour of the place she grew up in and told us her life story as we took in the beautiful scenery.  We met her brother and enjoyed their company for a while.   Each evening a group has led us in a very meaningful worship!  On the first night team fabulous led us in a meditation writing down what we prayed God would build in us this week and what God would use us to build.  Tonight we led the group in thinking about how God gave us each different gifts and that when we work together as a team we can share God’s love in the world.  We practiced our team work with a human knot and then made a puzzle of a heart where we each wrote what gifts God has given us that we bring to the team.  We sang, had communion, and prayed.  Also every night we have shared in prayer partners.  Each day we pray for someone else in the group and then at night share where we see God in them and how we prayed for them.  On the first night, Doug and Cara (the F.A.S.T. interns) helped us to learn more about poverty and what it would be like to live in poverty.  Tonight they taught us about how the coal companies have affected the Appalachian communities and about what we can do stand up for environmental justice in our world. Below are some pictures that show the hard work and scenery of the day!
